Michigan State University
The refurbishment of Owen Hall on Michigan State University’s East Lansing campus was performed on an extremely accelerated schedule. The $9.5 million renovation project was completed in just under three months. The goals of the project included:
- Increased occupancy to 95 percent
- Increased marketability/interest
- Fostered partnerships with neighboring professional schools and colleges
- Celebrate the diversity of the international students who live in Owen Hall
The project program included interior renovations to the food and dining area, first floor common areas, reception desk, offices and apartments, as well as the lower level common areas.
Refurbishments to the infrastructure included modifying the existing loading dock, fire protection throughout Owen Hall, fi re alarm upgrade, stair door connection to fire alarm, and abatement as required for renovation.
