East Grand Rapids Library and Community Center
This project involved a nearly complete reconstruction of the existing city hall and library facilities. Two existing buildings and an old water reservoir were combined into one large facility.
Along the waterfront, a boardwalk offers the residents a pleasant place to walk, fish and enjoy the scenery. Residents can dock their boats near the boardwalk and access the library via the lake. A roof-top garden offers a panoramic oasis for reading and picnics. The facility has received LEED Certification. In order to qualify, construction waste was recycled and FSC Certified wood components, low VOC paints, cork floors and photo voltaic sun shades were installed.
The East Grand Rapids Public Safety Building, adjacent to the project site, remained open throughout construction and our project team coordinated closely with the authorities. The Triangle team saved East Grand Rapids approximately $500,000 through post-bid value enhancement options.
