Describe what you do in a day:
I attend a lot of local city and township meetings, as well as local networking events and reaching out to various organizations and companies to build relationships and brand Triangle, with the goal of earning the opportunities to bid their work and build up our work backlog for 2023 and beyond.
What is your proudest accomplishment?
Without a doubt, my family! My wife Elvia is the most amazing and beautiful person I know, and we have 3 awesome kids that make us so proud every day. Sam is 16, Giselle 14 and Catarina is 8 and they are amazing.
Why Triangle?
Triangle was a client of mine at my previous job, so I was familiar with the company and how it’s operated and the expectations of everyone. When the opportunity presented itself here, I was able to spend some time with Pat, Mitch, Nancy and Brianne and they all solidified for me that the core values, mindset, and way of life here at Triangle align with mine and my families. Very proud to be a member of the Triangle Family!
How has your career grown since starting at Triangle?
Well, I’ve only been here since June, but I continue to learn and grow each day from the guidance and support from the team. Together, we’ve been able to establish and rebuild some relationships and from that we continue to build and get better every day.
Favorite project you’ve worked on?
Back in 2002, I was working for CW Concrete Construction, and we landed a job in Bayonne, New Jersey building condo’s using ICF block, it was a tremendous experience working out there. It was pretty cool to work on the bay and see the Statue of Liberty every day.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I like to spend time outdoors with friends and family, whether golfing, camping, fishing, swimming. I enjoy watching and coaching our kids in the sports they play. My favorite though is probably “Grillin N Chillin” with a nice bourbon.
How did you end up in construction?
At an early age I was intrigued by it, I loved watching the process from start to finish either building a house or a hotel. I took a job in high school at a remodeling company, where I was taught how to read a blueprint and I’ve been hooked ever since. The best part for me is driving down the road with my family and pointing to a house or building and saying, “I helped build that” ….I love that.
What’s the last book you read?
The Four Agreements: A Practical Guide to Personal Freedom-Don Miguel Ruiz
This is a very good book and I recommend it. I’ll admit though, I never would’ve read this book if it wasn’t for Tom Brady!
What motivates you?
My family and waking up every day having a purpose to be a better father, husband, co-worker, and friend. I never settle for mediocracy or complacency so I set high goals for myself personally and professionally.
What are you working on right now?
I am currently working on a couple projects. Some of the projects include a few community centers/libraries, and some grocery chain stores!
Nickname?
Most of my family and friends call me MJ, I like to think it relates to Michael Jordan, but as the years went by, I became aware it wasn’t because of my basketball skills, in fact my full name is Michael John Myers.
Hidden talents?
Not really a hidden talent, but I love to cook. All kinds of food, but my favorite is probably Italian. My grandmother and her family, on my dad’s side came over from Italy in the 1920’s and over the years we were fortunate enough to learn from her and the family proper Italian Cuisine, the holidays and family get togethers always involved great food!
